Spirits on Sproat, one of Chicagoland’s most popular
Halloween season destinations, is back for its 22nd season of
frightful fun in 2026. What sets our free home haunt apart from others is that
it’s designed to be an outdoor museum of the macabre in which nearly every
major horror icon from film, TV, literature, pop culture, and urban legend is
represented. Spirits on Sproat now showcases over 138 full-size figures, many
of which are home-made replicas of classic horror characters.
Spirits on Sproat—which has been featured multiple times on Svengoolie’s
television program and in The Chicago Tribune, and was named a Hall of Fame
Haunt by The Horror Tourers—gets thousands of visitors each season. Visitors
enjoy two unique scavenger hunt games that you can play on your smartphone or
on laminated sheets provided at the haunt, humorous signage describing each
character, creepy horror movie music mixed with sound effects, light projection
special effects, and everyone's favorite knife-wielding Michael Myers and
hockey-mask-wearing Jason Vorhees in addition to other live scarers.
Spirits on Sproat will be open to the public this season for a
record 25 nights this year (weather permitting).
NOTE:
- Property
is monitored 24/7 via several video cameras and protected by a security
system.
- Display
is family-friendly but recommended for ages 5 and up. All kids 12 and
younger must be accompanied by an adult. Rest assured that our live
scarers will not frighten little ones or senior citizens.
- All
dates and times are subject to change without notice due to inclement
weather and unexpected circumstances.
- Please
do not run into the street; be respectful of our neighbors by not blocking
driveways; keep your voice at a moderate volume; drive slowly and park
carefully on our block; and do not touch any of our figures or props.
- We
appreciate your generous donations (donation bins can be found in the
front and the back), which keep Spirits on Sproat alive (and undead); 100%
of funds collected are put back into our display. We now also accept

PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle.
Driving directions: Our haunt is located in Oak
Lawn, Illinois, just north of the intersection of 91st Street and Sproat Avenue
(on the west side of the street in the middle of the block on Sproat), 4 blocks
west of Cicero and 4 blocks north of 95th St. Click here for

General admission: Free (donations are appreciated)
Dates open (weather permitting): Sept. 25-27, Oct. 2-4, Oct. 9-11, and
Oct. 16-31.
Closed: Sept. 28-30, Oct. 1, 5-8, 12-15
Hours: 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and on Oct. 31; 7
p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays and Oct. 19-22 and Oct. 26-29.
